Peer Review Process

The Indonesian Journal of Education and Science (IJES) upholds a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality, accuracy, and relevance of the research we publish. Our peer review is conducted in several stages, providing authors with constructive feedback and maintaining the journal’s standards of scholarly excellence.

Initial Submission and Editorial Screening

  1. Upon submission, manuscripts are screened by the Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor to ensure alignment with the journal’s scope and basic submission requirements.
  2. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria are returned to authors for revision or declined, while qualifying manuscripts move forward to the peer review stage.

Double-Blind Peer Review

  1. The journal follows a double-blind review process, in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous. This ensures an unbiased evaluation based on content and quality alone.
  2. Two or more reviewers with expertise in the manuscript’s field are assigned by the Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editors. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript for originality, methodological rigor, clarity, and contribution to the field.

Review Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers are asked to assess the manuscript based on several criteria:

  1. Relevance to the journal’s focus and scope.
  2. Originality and novelty of the research.
  3. Methodology and data accuracy.
  4. Interpretation of results and relevance of the findings.
  5. Clarity and organization of the manuscript.

Reviewers are encouraged to provide constructive comments, suggesting revisions or improvements to enhance the quality and impact of the manuscript.

Review Outcomes

After completing their evaluation, reviewers recommend one of the following outcomes:

  1. Accept: The manuscript is suitable for publication with minimal or no revisions.
  2. Minor Revisions: The manuscript requires minor adjustments before it can be accepted.
  3. Major Revisions: The manuscript requires significant revisions, and a revised version will undergo further review.
  4. Reject: The manuscript does not meet the standards for publication.

Authors receive anonymous feedback from the reviewers, along with the Editor’s decision and any necessary revisions.

Revisions and Resubmission

  1. Authors are given the opportunity to revise their manuscript based on reviewer feedback. Revised manuscripts should address each comment and be resubmitted within the specified timeframe.
  2. Resubmitted manuscripts may be reviewed again by the original reviewers or by additional reviewers if needed, depending on the extent of revisions.

Final Decision

Once the manuscript has successfully met all review requirements, the Editor-in-Chief makes the final publication decision. Accepted manuscripts proceed to the production stage for final editing and formatting.

Publication and Proofs

  1. Authors of accepted manuscripts receive page proofs to check for final accuracy before publication. Only essential corrections are allowed at this stage.
  2. After final approval, the article is published in the forthcoming issue and made available online.

The Indonesian Journal of Education and Science is dedicated to a fair and thorough review process that helps authors refine their work while providing readers with reliable, impactful research. We extend our gratitude to our reviewers for their valuable contributions to the peer review process.
